Born from vintage Japanese silk and the spirit of la dolce vita, AKKI-CHAN is a slow resort brand upcycling vintage 100% silk kimono into one-of-a-kind aloha shirts.
Made to be worn while chasing the sun and kept for the memories after you return.
Creation Process
A Labor of Love.
We travel across Japan to handpick exquisite vintage kimonos, each chosen for its character and soul.
WHY ALOHA SHIRTS?
A return to those roots.
The aloha shirt traces back to Hawai‘i in the 1930s,
when Japanese immigrants began transforming old
kimono fabric into casual shirts — a way to carry a
piece of home while living far away.
AKKI-CHAN is a return to those roots.
We upcycle vintage silk kimono into one of a kind
resort shirts, honoring Japanese craftsmanship and
the spirit of la dolce vita. From kimono to shirt, past
to present, tradition to reinvention.
And honestly… we just really love aloha shirts.
Who is Akki-Chan?
I live in a real-life castle in Palenville, upstate New York (yes, really!). My favorite thing in the whole wide world?
